A few weeks ago I had the privilege of being able to be a part of the Multiverse Exhibition that was held in the Laband Student Art Gallery. It was such an amazing experience to be able to show my senior thesis, Black or White, alongside so many other people’s amazing artworks.
Setting up the exhibition was quite a job in and of itself. My work was an installation that included paintings, a book, and a lot of black yarn which I wrapped around the entirety of the wall I was allotted. Hanging the paintings and setting up the book was rather quick and easy. I measured and made sure all of the paintings were level on the wall, and I set the book up on a podium. Installing the yarn was a completely different story because I was rather limited in what I could use to fix it to the wall. I originally tried using tape because that was the most accessible thing at the time, and it worked for a bit. I came back the next day though to find all of the yarn lying on the floor because the tape had not stuck. I had to act quickly so I grabbed the spray on glue that was being used to put the labels on the walls, and I used that instead to hand up all of the yarn. Thankfully, that stuff worked.
After all of that, the rest of the exhibition went off without a hitch. Opening night was amazing, there were so many people that showed up to see the show. It was really fun getting to see everybody interacting with my work and experiencing it. It was a moment in my life that I surely will not forget.
